Come visit West Virginia. Come for the history, scenery, wineries, outdoors, or to just de-stress. We would enjoy welcoming you to our Gillum House Bed & Breakfast while you enjoy the West Fork River Rail-Trail located approx. 50 feet from the house or use one of our turn-by-turn routings to visit the sites that are 60 miles or (mostly) less from us. Sites such as 9 of the 17 remaining covered bridges in West Virginia, historic sites, antique shops, WV craft shops, wineries, scenery.... Now that I have given you reasons to visit our Wild, Wonderful West Virginia may I suggest why Gillum House Bed & Breakfast in Shinnston should be the accommodation choice?

A comfortable bed, nicely appointed room, and clean bathroom is a given. That is expected as it should be.  

Breakfast is the most important part of a bed and breakfast in the not very humble opinion of your innkeeper - me!
      *     Choose your breakfast time - between 4 AM and 10 AM, please
      *     Choose the country of origin for your morning coffee so we can roast it
      *     If notified in advance, we will attempt to meet dietary requirements
      *     All breads served are homemade (not just home baked)
      *     We specialize in low-fat, low cholesterol homemade food
      *     We serve "family-style" so guests have as much (or as little) as they wish
      *     Breakfast includes:
         o     Muffins
         o     Juice - both orange juice and a non-citric juice
         o     A fruit dish
         o     Entree - cooks choice
         o     Fresh-roasted, fresh-ground perked coffee
         o     Choice of over 100 teas

Many of our packages include a packed lunch which includes sandwiches using one of Kathleen's homemade breads depending on the meat of choice. She has a vegan sandwich also for the non-carnivores.

The Gillum Room has a queen-size bed, TV, and private en suite bathroom with a large claw-foot tub and also a 48-inch shower.

The Harris Room is feather-free for those with allergies to down and/or feathers. It has a full-size bed, reading nook with large rocking chair, TV and shares a bathroom with Rosi's Room at the shared rate or can be a private detached bath at the private bath rate (Rosi's would then not be rented).

Rosi's Room currently has a full-size bed and is quite roomy. Rosi's now has a 26 inch flat screen TV with DVD player.

The shared bathroom has a 60-inch shower.

Gillum House has Green Policies and provides soap, shampoo, and conditioner in dispensers in the showers. Please give your empty plastics and soda cans to the innkeeper for recycling.

ALL our rooms have luxurious robes in the closets for our guests to use. (Psst - the toilets in our bathrooms are "handicap" height for comfort.) ALL our rooms have free WiFi, CD/clock radio/alarms, TVs, DVDs, individual climate control in all seasons, and complimentary fruit baskets for our guests. ALL printed materials (magazines and books) on the second floor are for our guests to read, enjoy, and take with them. The books are to be "stolen" and they are not to come back!
Children are welcome if they bring at least one parent or grandparent with them. Due to the allergies of the hosts, this is a pet-free house. West Virginia law prohibits indoor smoking at bed & breakfasts. Escort service to the stable is provided for guests traveling with horses. Off-street parking is provided for motorcycle guests.
Shinnston is located in Mountaineer Country (Tourism Region) and is just a tad over 6 miles west of I-79 and the Gillum House is one block west of US Rt. 19 in downtown Shinnston. Shinnston is halfway between Fairmont and Clarksburg via US Rt. 19 and just 45 minutes from Morgantown.
