Located in the scenic New River Gorge area of southern West Virginia, The Ponderosa Lodge is the premiere farm stay for large groups in the Eastern United States. In the morning, learn about farm life by joining us as we gather eggs, feed and water farm animals, and pick fresh, organic fruits and vegetables from the gardens. Then, feast on a farm-raised breakfast which may include fresh eggs from our pasture fed chickens, bacon, sausage our ham from our farm-raised pigs, garden fresh fruits and vegetables, and homemade bread. After breakfast, relax at the lodge or enjoy all of the exciting outdoor activities that the New River Gorge area is noted for, including whitewater rafting, rock climbing, fishing, horseback riding, tree canopy tours, boating, and hiking, which are all within easy driving distance. With ten bedrooms and bathrooms accommodating up to 32 people, The Ponderosa Lodge is ideal for large group events such as church retreats, business retreats, family reunions, weddings and anniversaries, and hunting or fishing expeditions. We are conveniently located on Route 60, the Midland Trail, in Fayette County, WV.
Situated on 16 very private acres in the Allegheny Mountains, the Ponderosa Lodge has 10 guest rooms, each with private bath, and can comfortably accomodate 32 guests. The open floor plan kitchen, dining room, and great room provide plenty of space for large groups to visit and socialize. Additionally, the large game room contains ping pong, air hockey, satellite television, a movie library, puzzles, and games for additional relaxation and entertainment. The large covered deck has ample seating for groups to meet outside when the weather is pleasant. We are Wi-Fi and cell phone accessible.
Breakfast in the dining room
Wakeup every morning to the warm aroma of fresh baked muffins or pastries. Our continental breakfast includes homemade muffins/pastries, cereal, fresh fruit, coffee, tea, juice and milk. For $5.00 you can try our house specialty of stone ground buckwheat pancakes with pure West Virginia maple syrup and sausage. Another favorite of our guests is country style biscuits and sausage gravy with homefries. Whatever your pleasure, we'll strive to meet any dietary needs. The wood burning stove in the dining room adds a touch of nostalgia as well as keeping the room feeling cozy and warm.
Take a short hike in the woods
The hiking trails through the woods surrounding the lodge are perfect for relaxing and wildlife viewing. The woods and fields are home to over 40 migratory birds, deer, wild turkey, owls, bobcat, coyote, bear and an occasional eagle in the spring.
We are located in the heart of whitewater rafting country, 15 minutes from the New River Bridge in Fayette County. On State Route 60, also known as the Midland Trail, we are at mile marker 124.

Skiing at Winterplace Ski Resort (11/25/2009 04/02/2010) The Ponderosa Lodge is the ideal place for your church youth group or other large group to stay under one roof while skiing, snow tubing , and snow boarding at Winterplace Ski Resort. Our 10 guest rooms each with private bath sleep up to 32 people, and our 1,300 sq. ft. Great Room offers plenty of space for large groups with the convenience of staying in one building. On cold winter nights, we offer hot cocoa and apple cider along with a 1,000 sq. ft. Game Room equipped with ping pong, air hockey, darts, cable TV, and numerous board games. We are also only 10 minutes from Babcock State Park and miles of snowshoeing and cross-country skiing trails. Our 16 acres offer many opportunities for winter play, including snowman building, and hiking. Group discounts available. Kitchen priveleges or catering services are available for an additional cost.
